Some months ago, Texans linebacker Brian Cushing was busted for testing positive for a banned drug and received a 4 game suspension.
He ended up saying he feared that he had a malignant tumor that was producing the banned substance. Now he’s trying to excuse the positive test on having trained too hard.
I’m still wondering how he was able to keep his Rookie of the Year award.
It’s getting to the point that I can hardly blame these people for the stupid excuses they make. I mean Lohan does what? 12 days in jail for essentially flipping off our judicial system for almost a year. Bonds is the official home run king (although not to me) ARod will probably replace Bonds as home run king and they both cheated.
The only thing that strikes me as odd in this case is that he got to keep his award so he didn’t have to make an excuse at all. Whatever, there are just different rules for the others and for us.
Between steroids (heaven help us if Lance Armstrong is guilty…man I HOPE not!!), divas, contracts so huge normal people can’t afford to go to a game, and the overall hypocrisy of it all: I have really begun to lose interest in most spectator sports.
I will still watch my alma-mater (U of Miami) play football from time to time but sports in general have gotten so far removed that it just isn’t enjoyable or even compelling.
As for the hypocrisy of it all just look at the sanctions levied against USC earlier this summer. Sure they broke the rules but the people who broke the rules, (Pete Carroll, Lane Kiffin and Reggie Bush) aren’t the ones who are getting punished. They all have nice big contracts (ironically enough Kiffin has a contract at the school!)
The current students at USC are the ones getting punished! How ridiculous and hypocritical is that?!?!?
Hey Donnie – time for my bi-annual lamebrained idea. Can you email me? derek c slater , comcast dot net. (Not sure what email you’re using these days.) tx
Time to send some junkmail 🙂
@Wang: The rules are different when you have a lot of money (especially if you have enough money to change what the rules are)
Oh, and A-Rod and Bonds hit against roided pitchers…so that makes it OK, of course.
@Tommy: You’re not the only one that’s told me they’ve lost interest in sports. Unfortunately, I don’t see the landscape changing soon.
IMO, there’s little doubt Armstrong cheated. He won the Tour de France 7 or so times straight against cheaters. Unless he’s Superman or God…it’s kinda hard to believe.
@Derek/Q: Our Russian spammer friends have already picked up the mail.
