This past weekend were the Class Chess Championships in Houston.
Yours truly ended up being the Class B champion! A lucky draw at the end secured a 4.5/5. Another competitor also scored 4.5, but I won the champion’s plaque due to having played stronger opponents.
Ivan of Getting to 2000 played in the Class A section. He earned 2.5/5 against tough competition. He should get a bit of a rating increase.
Don of Rocky Rock was also there in his first USCF tournament ever, with a 3.5/5 score in the unrated section. That’s certainly not a bad way to start out!
John Warren won the class E championship. He was part of the Waco Chess Club when I was going there.
I’ll probably post one game a day this week. If you don’t like chess, this is not the week for you to visit LEP.
The full results of the tournament will be here, although the last round isn’t up yet.
