So very typical. Obama is considered to be either awesome or abyssmal. How badly are Americans colored by ideology? Or, perhaps more to the point, colored by the little (D) or (R) before the name?
And who the heck put in “E” as a grading option?

Unfortunately we are very polarized at the moment. People that I know, most of whom are otherwise very rational folks hate Obama and make wild accusations about him. Other folks that I know (again normally pretty raitional folks) think he’s the second coming of Jesus.
For me I’d give him a B or a C at this point. I’m not crazy about some of his ideas on Vets benefits, and as far as I can tell his housing rescue law has had little to no affect here in Arizona, where most people exceed the 5% negative euity cap placed by the law.
Well – I hate political polemics so I’m uncomfortable defending this graph but – we’re at a funky time. He’s facing pretty humongous problems and placing pretty humongous bets. As a result, this Presidency may be even more likely than usual to be either a huge success or a dismal failure. (I’m optimistic, for the record, though not a fan of ginormous debt/deficits.)
I voted for Obama and think that his heart and mind are in the right place. I haven’t been completely happy with the people he has chosen to surround himself with. He seemed to be choosing a lot of the old gaurd early on (Daschle…really??). One of the reasons I voted for Obama was I believed he had a knack for surrounding himself with good and energetic people. I didn’t vote for the old gaurd! Time will tell!
This is the problem with serious posts. They tend to generate serious, thoughtful responses. (Seriously, I enjoyed reading the input.)
I ended up giving Obama a C, although an incomplete might be a better score. For the talk about the difference between Obama and Bush, I wonder how many consider the ways in which they’re the same? And how that would affect the grading?
@Wang: “Time will tell.” Indeed. It’s only a few months into the term; the grade will be better to determine next year.
@Derek: It’s not so much that the presidency is more likely to be a great success or failure (which is a compelling point). It’s people are so certain they know what the result will be right now.
@Tommy: Obama is probably more “old guard” than appearances indicate.

Yeah who did put E as a grade possibility??

The E was needed to soften the F.
