If you knew me ten years ago, you could rightfully call me a “Dittohead” (a Rush Limbaugh fan) who swallowed American political conservatism without much thought. (“LOL those poor deluded Democrat suckers, how could anyone be Democrat?”) Government was always bad. Environmentalists were wackos. Etc., etc.
10 years later, I’m turning into one of those wacko greenies, doing stuff like:
- Taking public transportation
- Growing my own food (granted, only 1% of what I eat. It’s something.)
- Using the ceiling fan instead of air conditioning
- Walking to the grocery store
- Using those reusable bags at the grocery store (definitely one of the few)
Al Gore is planning to fly over in his private jet to congratulate me personally for saving the planet.
Tree Hugger!!! What has caused you to cross over to the dark side? It is not too late to repent and come back….
Next thing we’ll find Donnie sailing in a small boat to confront a whaling ship. He might even decide to live in a commune because it saves space and is healthier for the environment. Have Donnie tried weed yet? I’ll bet that the vegetables he’s growing are not Tomato plants :p
There is nothing unconservative about growing your own food.
If anything, wouldn’t it be heralded as a return to the glory days of the Victory Gardens of WW2? Back when the world made sense and American power assured?
Or you can view it as the ultimate expression of self-sufficiency. Rather than accept hand outs and food stamps, you work tirelessly to grow your own food. It was the yeoman farmers that built the backbone of our God fearing, freedom loving nation. There can be no higher imagery to live by than that.
and, you’ll be the one we all flock to in a disaster.
@Tom: You don’t know the power of the dark side!
@Q: Yes, it will be a caravel so I don’t use any of those evil fossil fuels.
If I were to go to a country where weed is legal, I’m undecided as to whether I’d try it once.
@Allen: You’re right, but it kinda fit the theme.
Being self-sufficient in food means one can hold off the government siege longer when they come to confiscate the guns.
@Annie: Yes, so we have enough food for one day longer than everyone else. Woooooo.
It also allows you to avoid the chemicals or specially genetically engineered crops the government puts in our food supply to control our thoughts and turn us into mindless sheep! Also, I think Carthage should be destroyed.
two days longer. we’ll bring molly.
@Allen: *cheers wildly*
@Annie: LOL. She’s kinda small, though, how many people do you think she would feed?
