You guys probably don’t know about this although it should have been covered in high school history. The Eggish Inquisition was going on at about the same time as the Spanish one. Eggs kept accusing each other of selling the recipe for Eggs Benedict to human cooks, which for obvious reasons was a major no-no. While it might have happened a few times, mostly accusations were used to try to eliminate a rich egg and get a hold of his possessions.
One of my ancestors was a feudal lord and had a lot of land. Likely because of the greed of his king and neighboring lords, he was “questioned” by the Eggish Inquisition 5 or 6 times. While he escaped death, he sure had to spend a fortune on shell restoration surgery.
You know, I’d have thought that the story behind Eggs Benedict is that Eggs Benedict was the form of capital punishment in Eggish society. Any egg that was a Benedict Arnold was given that punishment.
You know your history, Allen! You must have gone to a good school. The recipe-execution was supposed to be a secret among us eggs. Now you can find it in any IHOP or Waffle House or some such place and it’s an utter catastrophe.
