So a coder was dealing with a stored procedure that returned the following error: “Conversion failed when converting datetime from character string.”
To try to figure out the problem, he retrieved the dates in the database to pin down the problem:
2/23/2006
03/21/2006
08/23/2006
1O/18/2OO5
1O/18/2OO5
1O/18/2OO5
02/26/2007
02/26/2007
Still baffled, he looked to forums for help:
“In just looking at the returns in the grid in Management Studio, when I run
the select statement that returned the 8 date values, it appears the
1O/18/2OO5 values are of a different font size. This can probably even be
seen as you compare the zero’s from the following paste:
08/23/2006
1O/18/2OO5
Any ideas on validation, or handling this situation?”
And he probably felt a little foolish after being told the strange “zeroes” were actually capital O’s.
Donnie,
I am planning to play at the HCC this Friday.
Ivan
Change of plans.
I will not be there this Friday, but plan to play in the Houston OPen
That’s good, because I have other plans for tonight. I’ll see you at the Open!
get ready for falsettos, tight pants, and bad haircuts. 🙂
Hey, Annie, I know you’re busy tonight. But I was thinking maybe tomorrow night we could have dinner at Chez Fancy. Then we could go back to my place, I’d lie on the couch. Then you’d take off my shirt and start counting my chest hairs. I think that would be something special for the both of us.
mascot, donnie can tell you I cannot count, so that is out. plus I have given up eating. your proposal has eliminated any desire for eating. and I eat tofu that smells like raw sewage so that is saying something.
donnie i can see why you didn’t bring mascot tonight… i bet the smoking lady’s gyrations in front of us would have made mascot cause quite the ugly confrontation. 🙂
You know this isn’t the first time you’ve turned me down. I’m starting to think that the whole marriage thing might be important to you after all.
Annie’s exaggerating a bit. She can count, just not very high.
And I refuse to be seen with the Mascot in public at all…even wearing the T-shirt is a bit of a stretch.
